INTENT

It is our intent at Canklow Woods Primary School to provide our pupils with a high quality education in computing which provides access to an ever changing and expanding digital world.  We want them to understand the potential of technology and start to build computing skills for the future.  They will gain experience and skills from a wide range of technology in a way that will enhance their learning opportunities, enabling them to use technology across a range of subjects.  Our pupils will be taught to use technology responsibly and carefully, being mindful of how their behaviour, words and actions can affect others.

IMPLEMENTATION

We follow a broad and balanced Computing curriculum that builds on previous learning and ensures progression of skills.  All classes have a scheduled Computing lesson each week and each class has access to chromebooks and iPads to support all areas of the curriculum.

Our children in Early Years provision are exposed to the understanding of internet safety as they explore the world around them and how technology is an everyday part of their learning and understanding of the world.

In Key Stages 1 and 2, our curriculum provides coverage in line with the National Curriculum within the strands of digital literacy, information technology and computer science.

IMPACT

Children will be confident users of technology and use it to accomplish a wide variety of goals in a society where technologies and trends are rapidly evolving.  The impact of our Computing curriculum can not only be seen on displays around school but also on children's individual computer accounts.
