Here we are again, faced with another school closure! It was very short notice for schools and we have been working hard to put new things in place to ensure the children can still access learning at home.
As a school we have made the decision to do 'blended learning', during this lockdown. This means that all teachers will be preparing work packs to be collected from school an alongside this teachers will teach online every day using the work in the work packs. This will ensure that the children have a clear understanding of what they are to be doing and to provide some teaching of this, albeit on a screen. We will use Google Meet for the online meetings.
Codes for Google meets will be sent to parents so that children can access those and these codes should remain the same as much as possible to ensure it is simple. Many classes will be using Google Classroom, this has already been used in some year groups but not in all. We aim to have all years groups from year 2 onwards using this, parents and children will be send guides on how they can use this. It really is very simple and easy to use, and the younger years have short live lessons throughout the day. The daily offer consists of reading, writing, maths and SPaG plus an additional foundation subject. In addition a 30 minute physical activity is provided every day. These lessons may be delivered live or via pre-recorded lessons and using existing materials from Oak Academy.
As a school we will use a range of different technology for our online learning, again giving the children different and engaging ways to learn online.
Teachers and staff at school will be available to contact via email, and this means that if you have any questions, would like to send in any work that the children have done, or photographs, or simple comments, then this is the place to do it. Teachers will ensure they read and respond as soon as they possibly can.
