Welcome to Class 4

Welcome to Class 4

In class 4, Miss Halder is the teacher and Mrs Ronan is the teaching assistant. We also have assistance one hour a day from Mrs Sheppard in either literacy or numeracy.

Our topic in Summer term 2 is 'What is a hedgehog without a hedge? ‘

Our topic in Summer term 2 will be What is a hedgehog without a hedge? During this topic we will look at what we can do to protect animals' habitats and preserve different species. We will also be classifying animals in different ways and learning how their living environments can change over time and what impact this has.

In maths this term, we are studying shape which involves measuring and comparing angles using a protractor. Children will also be working hard to practice their times tables for the new government test which will take place between 10th and 28th of June.

On Tuesday 25th June, we will be visiting Yorkshire Wildlife Park where we will have a workshop based around habitats. We can't wait to observe animals from all over the world and learn more about how to help conserve them.

Our PE days are Tuesday morning where we are developing the skills for athletics to get ready for sports day on the 10th of July. We also have another PE lessons Friday afternoon when a sports coach from Rotherham United Football Club joins us. All children are expected to ensure they have suitable footwear and clothing as lessons will take place outdoors, weather permitting.

We have weekly clarinet lessons from a specialist music teacher. We are currently practising the songs we will be performing at this year’s Big Blast show at Magna on the 2nd of July.

We are lucky enough to have the talented art teacher Mrs Taylor teach us every week too where we are concentrating on images portraying our bug hotel.
