Welcome to Class 4

Welcome to Class 4

In class 4, Miss Halder is the teacher and Mrs Ronan is the teaching assistant. We also have assistance one hour a day from Mrs Sheppard in either literacy or numeracy.

Our topic in Spring term 2 will be ‘Was Rome built in a day?’ During this topic, we will be learning about the city of Rome in the past and present, their trade links with other countries and what the landscapeof Italy is like. We will be researching about what happened in Pompeii as well as painting images of erupting volcanoes. Year 4 will also be designing and making Roman chariots.

In maths this term, we will be continuing with our fractions topic before moving onto decimals.

On Monday 1st April we are having a Roman day with a special visit from a historian. On this day we will be handling artefacts from Roman times, learning more about their daily life in the past as well as re-enacting battle tactics.

We are also lucky enough this term to have a visit to Grimm and Co on Tuesday 26th March where we will be having an exciting and magical morning writing stories.

Our PE days are Tuesday morning which Miss Halder teaches and Friday afternoon when a sports coach from Rotherham United Football Club joins us. All children are expected to ensure they have suitable footwear and clothing as lessons will take place outdoors, weather permitting.

We also have clarinet lessons every Thursday morning from Miss Hathaway where we are currently learning the songs which we will be performing at this year’s Big Blast show at Magna in the summer term. The children are grasping how to play the clarinet very quickly and are demonstrating good technique.
